Rumor: Solans to Europe

Rumor: Solans to Europe

It was recently reported by English outlet *The 72* that RSL leading scorer Sergi Solans is attracting interest from English clubs Birmingham City and Wolves.

Solans was selected by RSL with the 30th pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft out of Oregon State and has broken into the first team this season. Through 14 appearances, including 10 starts, he has scored six goals and added four assists in just over 1,100 minutes.

The reported transfer fee is around $5 million, which would make it the second-highest transfer sale in club history.

Fan reaction to the rumor has been mixed. Some are excited about the potential influx of cash for a player with only 14 professional appearances, while others worry that losing one of the team's most productive attackers could hurt RSL during the second half of the season.

If this move happens, I think it could go one of two ways.

**Best-case scenario:**

Sergi and Zavier both move to Europe for a combined $20 million. RSL reinvests that money into a proven Designated Player striker and a right-sided player at Sanabria level quality, giving the club an even stronger squad heading into the playoff push.

**Worst-case scenario:**

Sergi and Zavier both move to Europe for a combined $20 million. The club banks the money and replaces them internally with Olatunji and Booth or Marczuk. While the financial position improves, the team loses momentum and looks significantly weaker during the second half of the season.

I'm hopeful that if this transfer happens, the front office approaches it in a way that strengthens both the club's long-term future and its chances of making a deep run this season.

I haven’t figured out bolding or Italics in the article editor yet. Please excuse me using ** in their stead.
